This tournament was initiated by Rotary in 2015 and runs annually in May at Wairakei Golf + Sanctuary prestigious golf course

Open to 120 players this tournament attracts both local and visitor registrations

All day BBQ supplied by Rotarians
Free carts provided for all teams
Putting and fairway practice area pre-Tee off
Prizegiving with Raffles and Auction at the end of day in the Club House with platters provided for golfers

Individual Men
Longest Drive Women & Men
Closest to the Pin Women & Men
There were 8 Birdies with the Landmark Birdy Challenge on Hole 1.

About the Tournament

First held in 2015, after the fundraising event at the time, “Oxfam Trailwalker” Annual Event was moved to Whakatane

Needing a new Taupo Rotary Club Annual fundraising Event, Two Rotarians Phillipa Vivian of Taupo with the support of Districts Ron Fyfe, both avid golfers, came up with the idea of a Golf Tournament at Wairakei Golf + Sanctuary – and so the Event evolved

In 2024 we hosted:

28 Team entries (30 max. team capacity)
112 Individual Registrations (130 max. golfer capacity)
Local and out of town golfers participated
Many return year after year
Had 13 Holes sponsored

Hole in One Challenge on Hole 10 to win a car sponsored by Ingham Taupo – a few very close shots were achieved including our on DG Bill hitting the pin to then deflect away

LandMark in celebration of their 10th Anniversary, provided additional sponsorship with a Birdy Challenge on Hole 1 – which saw 8 Birdies raising an additional $800 for our selected Charities
